#Imay's

My mom and her high school barkada would often meet up in Imay's for dinner. As usual, I was the designated driver slash photographer so I had to tag along.

Imay's is known for their sumptuous Filipino food and it's always a full house there, every night. My mom and her friends always had this private joke whenever they're there to tell the waiter that a certain friend is having his/her birthday. It always happen every time, I was a victim of that private joke too.

Mama

It was always a blast tagging along with them. I think our table was the loudest. Errr.

Now for the food that we ordered... (I wasn't able to take pictures of everything, I was busy eating. Lol.)

Sinigang.

Nikon_043

Kare-kare.

Nikon_044

Mixed seafood.

Nikon_050

Nikon_052

Beef with mushrooms.

Lumpia Shanghai.

Nikon_056

Imay's is located along 6th St.of Lacson St. Use Mcdonald's Lacson as the landmark, wherein you turn right and then go straight until you find the restaurant. Fair warning though, the place is always full of customers, even during lunch time and weekdays so better be patient in finding a table.

#Cuayx

I had to "cheat" my diet so I could eat dinner here tonight with my mom. Haha. (Anyways, that's the reason for the lack of food related posts. I have officially placed myself under "diet mode" for a healthier summer body.)

So I've been wanting to eat at Cuayx. From the name of the restaurant itself, it gets you enough enthusiasm to go eat there.

Nikon_069

The interiors of the restaurant, which was very home-y and rustic if I may say so.

Nikon_074

If you've been reading through my posts, you'll know I'm a big fan of lightings. The black painted chandelier is my kind of thing and I had to take a picture of it.

Nikon_075
I think it literally translates to "The Shell" and I have no idea what's at the back of this door.

Now, the food...

Nikon_070

Chicken Potato Salad for appetizer. I love how the potatoes were in big chunks, and the dressing was creamy too.

Nikon_071

My mom ordered their Tenderloin Steak, which tasted okay except that I wished they had bigger servings.

Nikon_072

Of course, I'm still on a diet per se, so I ordered their Fish Fingers which was basically Fish Fillet. The tartar sauce is so good. I could taste the oregano from it.

Nikon_076

I had Silvanas for dessert, which I was quite happy about that I had to order another one. Oops. Haha.

Nikon_077

Cuayx is located along Lacson St. directly in front of the L'Fisher Hotel and right beside Calea so it's very easy to locate. It is literally a house converted into a restaurant (I just love how quirky that sounds. Haha.) and has ample driveway for cars to park.

I was being random today and since it was my day off, I decided why not make a Black Sambo. Since recently a staff nurse of mine in the OR gave me her recipe. I bet I had to share some of these tomorrow in the OR. Let them taste my masterpiece. Err, no. HAHA.

Nikon_066

Black Sambo with lots of chocolate syrup

Ingredients:

White part:

2 sachets Knox unflavored gelatin

1 can condensed milk

1 can Nestle cream

Chocolate part:

2 sachets Knox unflavored gelatin

1 can evaporated milk

3/4 cup Hershey's Chocolate syrup

Directions:

1. White part first. Put the Knox sachets in 1 cup boiling water. Stir evenly.

2. Add the condensed milk and Nestle cream. Stir in low fire.

3. Put into mold or container and evenly distribute the mixture. Allow to cool and put inside the freezer.

4. Take it out once the mixture is set.

5. For the chocolate part, put the Knox sachets in 1 cup boiling water. Stir evenly.

6. Add the evaporated milk and chocolate syrup. Stir in low fire.

7. Add the mixture on top of the white part and spread evenly. Allow to cool and put inside the freezer.

8. Store inside the freezer until ready ready to serve.

Yesterday I wanted to cook something healthy and easy to do for lunch. There wasn't much inside the pantry since my mom decided not to give in to my impulsive desire to hoard grocery items for months now (since it always ends up being spoiled because I keep forgetting I have these items to cook. Err. Anyways.) but there were a few things available ---

So here's my really simple take on the Creamy Tuna Penne

Nikon_065

Ingredients:

1 500g pack of Penne pasta

2 cans of Century Tuna Chunks in Water

3 packs of Del Monte Carbonara Gourmet Sauce

1 box of Quickmelt cheese, grated

1/2 cup water

salt and pepper to taste

1 tbsp sesame oil

Directions:

1. Cook the pasta according to package directions. Set aside the cooked pasta.

2. Heat oil in a pan and saute the Tuna chunks for 2 - 3 minutes.

3. Pour in the Carbonara sauce. Season with salt and pepper.

4. Toss the cooked pasta into the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add water until you have achieved desired consistency.

5. Before serving, top with grated cheese.

It's quite simple to do, really. I ended up bringing some to work and my staff loved it. Hehe.

#11th Restaurant

Third and final part of my Valentine's Day: 11th Restaurant which was located directly in front of Jay j's.

421157_3071044328543_1036678300_32969133_1445956095_n
We opted to stay outside in those big umbrellas and right next to the speakers blaring cheesy and sad love songs we can't help but sing along. Eew.

429006_3070814082787_1036678300_32969049_294305861_n
Vodka Sprite for me, Tanduay Ice for Teptep, Red Horse for Camille. And a Jello shot for each one of us. Jello shots are for 20 pesos only!

Cheers to surviving another year of love gained and love lost!  (This pertains to me. What the eff. HAHA.)

11th Restaurant, from what I know of, is the place for chilling out and drinking but I heard they also open during lunch time and actually serve decent meals. Maybe next time I can go there during lunch and eat there. We'll see.

All photos courtesy of Teptep. Thank you!

#Jay j's

Valentine's Day Part 2.

Dinner at Jay j's which was still in Art District. I specifically asked for us to eat there since I'm in love with their Filipino food. (and both my friends have never eaten there before.)

Nikon_048

The interiors of Jay j's. We seated ourselves at the far end of the restaurant so we could see everyone going in and out. HAHA.

Photo courtesy of Teptep. I have such a weird fascination with lightings in restaurants.

The food that we ordered ...

Nikon_053
Fried lumpia which we had a hard time looking in the menu because I keep choosing the Lumpia with vegetables on it yet I don't want to eat veggies! Ugh.

Nikon_054
Garlic Chicken. Good enough for 3 people.

Nikon_055
Now this is my favorite and I order it everytime I eat in Jay j's. It's called 2 Way Adobo which is basically Pork Adobo topped with Adobo Flakes.

Nikon_056
Garlic Rice + Plain Rice

Nikon_051
Ripe Mango Shake. Yes, they have the ripe one and the green mango one so you need to specify.

Nikon_052
Iced tea.

Nikon_050
Oh we're such happy girls. HAHA.

Jay j's is located in Art District (at the back side) and they serve both lunch and dinner. It's also a great tambayan for after work chillout and drinks since they also serve mixed drinks and alcoholic drinks.

#Happy eating!

#Miren

I spent the Valentine's Day with my 2 girl friends Camille and Teptep and we went straight to Art District right after our 7a - 3p work.

First stop was Miren, the desserts and coffee shop in Art District. (I really have no idea why we went there first, considering we're supposed to have dinner first, desserts, then drinks. Oh well.)

Nikon_038
Their counter with lots of balloon bouquet for 260 pesos.

So now, we ordered the following...

Nikon_039
Mango Caramel Heaven for me. I ordered it because of the caramel syrup. Typical me. HAHA.

Nikon_040
Cafe Americana for Camille.

Nikon_045
Mocha Freeze for Teptep. Ooh, lots of frosting on top.

Miren
That's us enjoying our orders. In all smiles.

Nikon_047
Miren is easily located in Art District with ample parking spaces in front of it. The food, desserts, and drinks are a bit price-y though but it's worth the taste and the ambiance of the place. I will definitely go back there to try their fro-yo's.
